2013 Recap

December 2013

Season’s Greetings!  As 2013 quickly comes to an end and the holiday’s are among us, it is time to pause and reflect back upon this year.

January and February brought cold weather, some snow, but mostly a mushy mess.  It also was the beginning for some changes for our family.  Michael and I decided to put our Dike home up for sale, as Granddaddy Buzz wanted to downsize, and sell his house.  I just couldn’t bare the thought of some other family living in Granddaddy and Nonna’s home.  After much discussion and prayer, we decided that we would buy their home and 16 acres.

During early March, we had an offer for the Dike house, we accepted and the “waiting process” began.  Michael was able to attend Horse Shoeing School in Oklahoma.  He was gone for two weeks.  The kids and I were able to travel up over the weekend to visit him.  We stayed in Oklahoma City and while there we visited the zoo and enjoyed site seeing.  This was the kids’ first trip out of state.  We had a good time and we were all thrilled to see Michael.  During this time we also added a new member to our family.  Jep, (wienie dog) fit in perfect and has made a wonderful pet.  He aggravates the kids just as much as they aggravate him.

We spent the month of April packing boxes and preparing for the move.  We are so glad that this was our last move.  May 13th was closing day for our Dike house and on May 15th we signed papers to purchase Granddaddy’s house.  Granddaddy’s new house construction hadn’t begun when we moved, so we all lived together while his house was being built.  Poor Granddaddy, I really do not think any of us anticipated how hard it would be to merge two family’s under one roof.  I’m sure Granddaddy was relieved to have his own space again – having a 3 and 4 year old can wear one out by just watching them play.  I wish I had Dailee and Coy’s energy.

June and July were hot months.  Michael helped my dad in the hayfield when he wasn’t at the coal mine or shoeing horses.  We also enjoyed several evenings at the lake fishing.  On July 4th we invited family, friends, and neighbors over for a fish fry.  Our front yard was filled with laughter and lawn chairs. The day was brought to a close with an excellent fireworks show that Dad and family friend,  Jay created.  I think this will become a yearly tradition.

Dailee began attending Sulphur Bluff ISD in August.  She is in the Pre Kindergarten class there.  Although she doesn’t enjoy getting up early, she is enjoying school.  My mom and dad help get her to and from school if Michael isn’t able to take her.  Some days, she rides the school bus home; she loves riding the bus.  Coy also began the PreK program at Mrs. Debbie’s in Mount Vernon.  Mrs. Debbie has been such a blessing to us.  She is a wonderful teacher and has a state recognized program.

September and October consisted of us helping Granddaddy with his move.  It has been a long and stressful process, but his new house is perfect for him.  We (along with Mom and Dad) helped him get settled and I think he is enjoying the quietness of his home.  Sometimes, Dailee will get off of the bus at his house.  He always has strawberries or ice cream waiting for her.  October also was the beginning of deer season.  Michael has a lease near Oklahoma and was able to harvest a doe with his bow.  At the end of October, we finally sold our Bremond property.  Praise the LORD!  It had been on the market for almost 3 years.

November brought cooler temperatures and a change of scenery.  The trees have been just beautiful this year.  We celebrated Thanksgiving at my parent’s home and also had a small Hare Family reunion the following weekend.  December will be filled with family time and delicious food.  We are looking forward to spending time with Michael’s family and friends in Henderson.  His parents will be coming in from Wyoming; we always look forward to seeing them.

Other highlights for our family include:
·         Hannah Eudy was born December 7, 2012 (Craig and Jill Eudy(my sister), proud parents)
·         Abbie Brooks was born June 13, 2013 (Greg and Erica Brooks (Michael’s middle sister), proud parents)
·         Jaci got a promotion at work
·         Michael attended Boom Welding School & received his certification
·         Dailee turned 4 in March
·         Coy turned 3 in October
·         The kids began showing interest in riding horses (Michael is so proud)
·         Michael began construction on the roping pen
·         After much prayer we decided that our family of 4 is complete.

Overall, 2013 has been a wonderful year.  We’ve seen many changes and have faced some difficult decisions, but for all of these happenings, we are grateful.  We hope you all have had a wonderful 2013 and we pray that you have a blessed 2014.

Sending love,

The Postell Family

2012 Recap

2012 was a good year for us.  Of course we had a few sad moments along the way but overall our year was fantastic.  In February we signed a contract for our new house and land.  We also lost Nanny (Michael's grandmother) the same month.  In March Dailee celebrated her 3rd birthday.  Grandmother Haley passed away on March 26, six months to the day since Nonna passed away.  Oh, how we miss our grandmothers!  We moved into our new home during April.  During May I celebrated my 28th birthday (yikes).  July brought many hot days and Michael celebrated his 28th birthday on the 2nd.  In September we had a dinner with family to celebrate Nonna's life and angel-versary.  Coy turned 2 in October.  We celebrated by having his party at Leapin Lizards.  It was a lot of fun and well worth the money.  Thanksgiving was celebrated with family and good food.  Before we knew it, December was upon us.  We had a wonderful Christmas.  The kids received too many toys, and we had a great time visiting family.  As 2013 begins, we would like to wish you all a very happy new year.  May God bless you all.

November, already?!

After Jill's shower, I have realized that there are so many who just do not care and that is okay!  If that's how they choose to live their life, as long as I know that I'm doing what is right and pleasing to the Lord, than I will accept their decisions.

Halloween came and went.  Michael had to work so I took the kids to visit Granny at the nursing home then we went to church and enjoyed the Fall Festival.  They served wonderful chili and stew, had games and a bounce house, and allowed the kids to "trunk or treat".  The fellowship was enjoyed by everyone.  I was exhausted by the end of the night.  I sure missed Michael!  Its hard to wrangle two kids at the same time. I needed more hands.  The weekend before Halloween, Michael and I took the kids to our company's trunk or treat.  It was a lot of fun.  We met up with Justin and his wife, Melissa.  They have two daughters that are adorable.  We all then went to Mr. Puckets house.  They had lots of great food.  The kids played for hours, we went on a hay ride, and enjoyed the company of all.

Jill is only 4 weeks away from her due date.  I can hardly wait.  I hope I am as great of an Auntie to Hannah as what Jill has been to my kids.  They love their Auntie Jewel and Uncle Lav!  Dailee thinks Hannah will be able to play with her as soon as she is born.  I hope she isn't disappointed once she realizes that Hannah is going to be talking or playing right away.

The Feeling of Let Down....

In my earlier post I stated that I've been planning Jill's baby shower for almost 2 months now.  We had it last weekend.  I worked my butt off on it.  I know Jill was thrilled to have so many nice things given to her for baby Hannah BUT at the same time, I also know she was let down.  I know I was.  Jill is a great friend to so many.  She will bend over backwards to help someone out.  If she commits to something, she will be there.  So many of her "friends" were not there.  It was sad!  She will scratch their back when they ask but they will not return the favor.  RUDE!

Plus, I was being talked about.  Yes, I caught people talking about me behind my back.  Why they were doing this, I have no idea but it happened.  People who I thought would attend the shower didn't and then to top things off some of the guest were rushed.  The shower was from 2-4 but at 3 o'clock food began being put away.  Then at 3:15 more guests begin arriving.  No cupcakes were to be found, no cookies, no drinks.  I felt awful.  So awful for one older lady, that I gave her my cupcake that I had set aside.  All this happened because others had places to be.  Like always.  I spent lots of money on this shower, I only asked that the hostess help pay for the cookies and cupcakes.  I didn't get paid by all of them.  Some that signed up to bring things, didn't, so I had to run to the store to purchase these things.  Never again will I be the main planner for a shower.  Its just too much stress and I do not like being let down by those who I trust.  Not to mention that I do appreciate being talked about behind my back.  To sum this post up: I AM GLAD ITS OVER.  Now, if only I could cheer up.  Hubby is gone for 5 days, its too quite at my house.  Glad for a great sister who is coming over tonight!  Girls Night, plus one boy named Coy :)

A Hobby.....

I've always enjoyed photography!  It started in high school and my love for it has grown.  On occasion I will capture moments for other families.  Yesterday, I had the privilege to photograph Jennifer and Jordon's precious baby boy, Jase.  He was SO good, he's a natural :)

These photos are only a few of the 100 that I took.  Thank you Stanley Family for allowing me to photograph Jase.  He is adorable.

Thank you, Jordon, for serving our country.  God Bless You and Your Sweet Family!
